Graphite Painting: Orange Still-Life - Progress #1

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving Holiday. We got to spend some time with my families at my parent's. Our kids had a blast with their cousins. The house was quite full. It was wonderful to see everyone! I look forward to the final look of this drawing!

Graphite Painting: "Rusty Bolt No.1" - Final!

Looks like I'll leave it as is. It's been fun getting back into drawing again! I can't wait to start the next one!

Description: This drawing is based on photos I've taken of a vintage Santa Fe railroad bridge over one of the main streets in Independence, KS. There's going to be a series of drawings based on rustic bolts from the bridge. I love the rustic feeling to it. I purposely created a close-up composition of the bolt to provide a unique perspective.

Specifications: Graphite on paper, 6x8 unframed

Graphite Painting: "Rusty Bolt No.1" - Progress #2

Here's progress #2 of the "Rusty Bolt No.1". I started on the heavy shaded areas and blended it with a blending tool called "Tortillon". The next round is adding another layer of heavier shading area. There will be few more layers of applications before it's finally finished. Enjoy!

Graphite Painting: "Rusty Bolt No.1"

My cell camera is not as good as I thought! Pardon the lame image quality. I just started another drawing. You know what, I starting to really like the idea of calling my drawings "Graphite Paintings". However, I decided I would like to share the progress of the drawing, "Rusty Bolt No.1" with whoever is interested. This is the first stage. I used pencil #2H to "outline" everything out before I move to heavy areas such as shades and etc. More to come and I will post progress #2 tomorrow! :)

Graphite Study: Candy Wrappers

Another very loose and quick sketch study. A study of candy wrappers. I didn't spend a lot of time with details.

Graphite Study: Baby Bottle

I was rocking my 8 month old to sleep. After he was done with his bottle, I set it on the little table next to me. Before long, I decided to do a graphite (pencil) study of the bottle. My thought and goal is to try to do a graphite study a day. Feel free to comment.

MailOline: Autistic artist Stephen Wiltshire draws spellbinding 18ft picture of New York from memory... after a 20-minute helicopter ride over city.

TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!

"This astonishing 18ft drawing of the world’s most famous skyline was created by autistic artist Stephen Wiltshire after he spent just 20 minutes in a helicopter gazing at the panorama.

The unbelievably intricate picture was drawn at Brooklyn’s prestigious Pratt Institute from Stephen’s memory, with details of every building sketched in to scale."
